People in the Miesbach district are deliberately infected with Corona so that they no longer have to pay for tests, says the medical pandemic coordinator Dr.

Florian Meier, medical pandemic coordinator for the district, explains why, from his point of view, people also contribute to this themselves and what that means for the hospital.
"Extremely reckless": Intentional infection at Corona parties
Dr. Meier, the incidence in the district has shot up over 400 - fifth place in Germany. A reason to celebrate for some?
Apparently yes.
There used to be rubella parties at which toddlers should get infected with rubella.
Today, some parties are holding corona positives to get infected and then to be considered recovered for six months so that they don't have to take tests.
For real?
When I heard it at the beginning, I didn't believe it either.
This is currently the big trick with young people.
If you want to go away, you need a PCR test and it costs around 80 euros.
But if I am considered to have recovered, I can save myself the test for six months.
Why not just get vaccinated?
I do not know that.
It would of course be the smartest.
But they don't do that.

How many such parties are there?
It is difficult to give exact numbers.
Of course there is nobody to.
I have been told it from several reliable sources.
A noticeable number of positive young unvaccinated people also come to my practice.
You rule out that they got infected at the disco?
In any case.
There were too many clear indications for that.
It also fits into the picture: the incidence in the district is four times as high as the Bavarian average.
But we have no outbreaks in homes and no large clusters such as after discos.
That only leaves transmissions in the private sector.
If you then look at the age at which we have a lot of infections, then these are young people who want to go away in the evening.
Both together paint a clear picture.
Because of high corona incidence: doctor worried - "The hospitals are full"
Targeted infections in unvaccinated people - sounds dangerous.
That is the point.
Severe courses are rare in young people, but they do exist.
The patients in the intensive care unit in Agatharied are getting younger and younger.
We're talking about healthy, sporty people in their twenties and thirties.
Long Covid cannot be played down either.
Many struggle with the consequences for months.
Getting infected in order to have rights is extremely reckless.
Also towards his fellow human beings?
Yes.
We have a good vaccination;
everyone has the opportunity to be vaccinated;
and the protection is there just as quickly as the recovered certificate.
But I avoid the risk of a severe course.
And, most importantly, I don't run the risk of infecting others.
Those who intentionally become infected are keeping a virus alive that we have been trying to exterminate with great sacrifices for months.
Our hospitals are full.
When I was on emergency medical service from Friday to Saturday, there was no free intensive care bed in all of Upper Bavaria.
The normal infections are already as strong this year as they are in the high season in January and February.
That is unusual and takes up additional places.

We're in an area we've never been there.
The numbers are exploding day by day.
I don't think we can count on any relaxation over the winter.
Now everyone has to grab their own nose and help them together.
I think if we were to stick to the rules a bit, the incidence would certainly not exceed 400.
What does this mean for events? With the incidence, the chances of sitting next to an infected person increase.
When I reach a certain size, I slowly have to think about canceling events.
The business reception today has also been canceled.
This is the responsibility of the organizers and participants.
In general: 3G is good, 3G plus is better.
If you want to be on the safe side, people who have been vaccinated can also be tested.
