(CNN) -

Iran has agreed to restart nuclear talks with major powers "before the end of November," chief nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani said in a tweet.

Bagheri met on Wednesday in Brussels with Enrique Mora, deputy head of the European Union (EU) Foreign Action Service, to discuss the resumption of talks under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which limits its nuclear program to peaceful purposes, suspended in June after six rounds.

Before the suspension, Iran held talks with China, Germany, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and indirectly with the United States in Vienna, Austria, where the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the UN are located.

The United States has not stopped calling for Iran's return to the talks, but said last month it was working on contingency plans if Tehran continues to make nuclear advances and does not return to negotiations.
