A model project with innovative approaches to housing is planned.

Erding

- Lebenshilfe Erding is facing a project on a scale like never before in the 50 years of existence.

Two new dormitories are to be built with a total cost of around 15 million euros.

"That means a huge financial feat, but we want to pull through the project in one section," announced the chairman and district administrator Martin Bayerstorfer at the annual general meeting.

First of all, Bayerstorfer had to disappoint the visitors to the meeting.

Many members had come to present the planned dormitories.

But architect Christian Brunner had canceled due to illness.

The district administrator therefore gave himself an insight into the project.

Initially, “only” upgrading the Edeltraud-Huber-Haus was on the agenda.

“That would have meant we would have lost a third of the apartments,” said Bayerstorfer.

Fortunately, managing director Randolf Gänger “found” a piece of land that belongs to Lebenshilfe.

Bayerstorfer: “We didn't even think about that anymore.” The dormitories can be built on this.

Modern forms of living are planned in their full range - for single people, couples or shared apartments.

"The goal in the future-oriented buildings is to enable people to live as independently as possible," explained Bayerstorfer.

There is nothing like that in the whole of Bavaria, which is why the state is also in good spirits when it comes to generous funding: "We are very well regarded there in view of this model project," said Bayerstorfer happily.

In order to reduce the risk for the board of directors, it was proposed to found an eGmbH: "Only the board of the Lebenshilfe sits in it, but we would no longer be liable with our private assets", was how Bayerstorfer justified this proposal - the members voted unanimously in favor of it without discussion.

Actually, the 50th anniversary of Lebenshilfe should have been celebrated on the day of the meeting.

That is why Monika Haslberger, the vice chairwoman of Lebenshilfe Germany, stopped by in Erding.

She praised the Erdinger for what they had achieved, especially for the huge show of strength during the pandemic: “Everyday life was gone for everyone.

Lebenshilfe Erding worked out creative solutions for the dormitories and workshops and thus created the important daily structure again. "

In the vocational, educational and workplaces of the Isar-Sempt-Werkstätten, even people with disabilities would experience holistic recognition: “That's just great.” The anniversary celebration is to be rescheduled in 2022, by the way.

Without a strong team and the acceptance of the residents, you would be nothing, emphasized Coleen Duvos, the head of the dormitories: "During the pandemic, the atmosphere was surprisingly good and relaxed because all external appointments were canceled."

"Fortunately, we did not have any severe Covid courses," said Duvos.

In the workshops, too, Lebenshilfe was spared, as headed by Albert Wittmann reported.

However, he had to realize how important work is for people with disabilities: “Without it, many have changed their active language and social behavior.

We work every day to fix that. "

Treasurer Christian Wolf spoke about some losses. In 2020, the association made a hefty loss with revenues of around 60,000 euros and expenses of a little more than 164,000 euros. The cash in hand was reduced to a good 127,000 euros: “But the effects of the new building are included.” The credit would be offset by debts of a good 600,000 euros, says Wolf - the new dormitories are simply a huge project.

New elections were also on the program: Bayerstorfer was unanimously confirmed as chairman, his deputy and managing director remains Randolf Gänger.

Treasurer Christian Wolf no longer stood up for election, but because there was no successor, he will continue to take over the office on a provisional basis.

The assessors for the next three years are: Ludwig Hobmaier, Peter Wagner, Helmut Scheja, Christine Hühn, Heike Bomsdorf and Ursula Schwarz.
