After many long-distance travel destinations had their borders closed for around a year and a half, holidaymakers can look forward to a sunny winter holiday again with optimism.

More and more long-distance travel destinations are opening up to tourism. Thailand * and the USA have just announced that they will allow fully vaccinated travelers from Germany to re-enter without quarantine from November. The opening announcements make Germans want to travel long-distance in winter: within just one month, searches on FeWo-direkt for holiday homes and holiday apartments at many popular long-distance travel destinations with guaranteed sunshine have more than doubled.

After a rather moderate summer, the Germans cannot blame the need for sun.

As a current survey by YouGov on behalf of FeWo-direkt confirms among more than 1,000 parents, every fifth German family intends to spend at least one holiday in the sun between November 2021 and April 2022.

Book flights at least six weeks before departure

Although the prices for flight tickets have risen slightly in recent months with increasing interest in travel, they are still well below those of 2019. This is the result of a joint analysis by the online travel agency Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Corporation. "Anyone planning a flight in the coming months will currently benefit from a price advantage of more than 35 percent compared to 2019," says Expedia spokeswoman Svetlana Hirth. There is additional potential for savings if you

book early

. "For flights abroad, the prices in Economy Class usually rise 42 days before departure," adds the travel expert. This means that holidaymakers should book at least six weeks before departure in order to secure the best ticket price.
