Sectors opposed to the government of President Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua called on Nicaraguans not to participate in the general votes on November 7.

The campaign has a music video under the slogan “let's stay at home because our right to choose has been hijacked”.

In the video, the participants wear masks with the faces of some of the victims of the protests against the Nicaraguan government.

Since these elections were announced, the Nicaraguan government has detained at least 37 opposition leaders, including seven presidential candidates, who are accused of alleged crimes such as money laundering and acts against sovereignty.

All the detainees have rejected the charges against them.

Ortega has said that the detainees are "enemies of the revolution" and the vice president and first lady of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, questioned the government's critics.

The European Union, the United States and the Organization of American States have criticized the handling of this electoral process.
