When he was presented with the Tyrolean Eagle Medal in gold on Monday evening in Innsbruck, "I was a bit proud," says the Tölzer.
Since 1970, the state of Tyrol has been awarding the award to personalities who have an excellent political, economic or cultural relationship with Tyrol.
The award always takes place on the evening before the Austrian national holiday.
Niedermaier is the only Bavarian in the mayor's band of the Schwaz district
The order was awarded by Governor Günther Platter.
In the eulogy for Niedermaier, a brief look back was given to his political and sporting career.
"This politician - who is the only Bavarian who also plays in the mayor's music band of the Schwaz district - has very good contacts in Tyrol," said the laudatory speech.
With the ensemble, Niedermaier - he plays the clarinet like in the Tölzer Stadtkapelle - has already gotten around quite a bit.
Among other things, there were concert tours to Thailand, Russia, Brazil and a visit to the Pope.

But the district administrator is not only connected to Tyrol culturally.

So Niedermaier shows understanding for Tyrolean driving bans on alternative routes.
He always advocates working together, not against each other, because both sides have similar traffic problems.
As a reliable partner of the Schwaz district, he also tried to provide assistance such as the Corona entry and exit controls in Eng / Hinterriß.
Leading the way in founding the Euregio
In addition, the Tölz-born advocate for the establishment of a Euregio with the district of Schwaz and the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Miesbach, which brings together stakeholders on topics such as agriculture, tourism, water rights and transport.
