The Paris Court of Appeal will render its decision on November 24 on the possible surrender of a Pakistani arrested in France and suspected of the murder of his niece in Italy, AFP learned Wednesday from a judicial source.

After a postponement on October 20 for procedural reasons, Danish H. appeared again on Wednesday before the investigating chamber.

In this case which generated a lot of attention and anger in Italy, described as

"extremely high profile"

by the court, Danish H. is one of the five members of the family of Saman Abbas, a young woman of 18, suspected of having participated in his murder. The body has not been found. On October 20, the court had indicated that Danish H. was

"implicated for having kidnapped and kidnapped this young girl and for having killed her in a field".

While the public prosecutor's office had requested its surrender to Italy, his lawyer Me Layla Saidi had opposed it, arguing that the proceedings were null and void.

Saman Abbas, who lived in Novellara, in northern Italy, near Bologna, declined in 2020 his family's request to marry a cousin in Pakistan. A minor, she turned to social services and was taken to shelter in November 2020. She reported her parents to the police, but returned to see them on April 11. When the police started looking for her on May 5, the family home was empty and the parents left for Pakistan. Police discovered CCTV footage from the end of April in which, late one evening, five people were leaving the family home with shovels, crowbar and bucket, returning two and a half hours later.

At the Italian request, Danish H. was arrested on September 22 in an apartment in Garges-les-Gonesse (Val-d'Oise), spotted through exchanges on the Internet with his family in Pakistan.

In front of the investigating chamber, during a first hearing on September 29, Danish H. had contested in Punjabi the facts with which he was accused:

"I do not agree at all with all that, all that that" is wrong".

"Has anyone seen me there?"

Did I get out of my house? ”

, he objected in particular.

Danish H. had refused to be handed over to the Italian authorities, which could delay his eventual surrender to Italy in the event of an agreement by the French courts.
