Doing instead of waiting: some Pasing parents have very special plans for their children's school.

You have presented a concept of how the elementary school at Schererplatz and the neighboring Elsa-Brändström-Gymnasium can develop into a school campus.

The visualizations appear futuristic: A school building with a golden facade protrudes from the ground like a ramp, the roof is green, next to it a sports center including a swimming pool with solar cells on the roof - the vision that those responsible at the Schererplatz primary school in Pasing have for their school and that Having a neighboring Elsa-Brändström-Gymnasium is bold.

Under the leadership of Leif Geuder, chairman of the parents' council, they presented a concept of how the area around the schools could develop.

The number of students in Pasing will increase significantly in the future

According to the city's demographic report, Pasing will grow.

Thanks to the large number of new buildings, young families are drawn to the West - which has an impact on the number of schoolchildren.

The parents' council of the Schererschule did the math: By 2026 there will be around 1,590 more school children in Pasing, which means eight more classes at the elementary school and ten more at the grammar school - so far there is no space for them.

"Solutions are long overdue," says Anita Bock, the director of the elementary school.

If nothing is going on, you have to take the initiative yourself

So the parents' council wants to act - according to the motto: If nothing goes ahead, you have to take the initiative yourself.

"We noticed that we are not at the top of the school sector when it comes to current construction work in the city," says Geuder.

The designer has developed a sustainable and future-oriented concept of how the campus could look - including visualizations, elaboration and schedule.

"I believe that you need something that you can show so that something happens."

The focus is not only on schools: the sports center should also be accessible to clubs from the district, and the cafeteria should include a public cultural center.

To calm traffic in the area, they are planning an underground car park and parks.

"Now theory meets hard reality"

So far there have been two presentations, one of which was Munich's third mayor Verena Dietl (SPD).

She admires the passion that the parents' council has put into the concept.

"So detailed and well thought-out, visually very appealing and then also both schools - Elsa-Brändström-Gymnasium and Schererplatz Primary School - taken together." And how could it go on?

"Next year we will prepare a feasibility study so that we can continue working on the idea of a Pasing school campus as quickly as possible with the results."

When it comes to feasibility, Leif Geuder does not have any great illusions: “Now theory meets hard reality.” The main difficulty now is to clarify who is responsible for the city.

And then actually get something rolling.
