A 22-year-old pedestrian was hit by a tractor in the East Frisian municipality of Bunde (district of Leer) and seriously injured.
The man was initially on a pedestrian path until he suddenly wanted to cross the street, as a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
The approaching tractor driver, also a 22-year-old, was unable to evade his vehicle in time on Tuesday evening and caught the pedestrian.
Bunde - Rescue workers brought the injured person to a clinic.
The tractor driver suffered a shock.
The police started investigations into the exact course of the accident.
