Fifty Syrian publishers attended with their recent publications of books with different titles in the Syrian Book Fair, which opened at Al-Assad National Library yesterday evening under the title “Our Book is Our Tomorrow.”

The establishment of a book fair that brings together Syrian institutions and publishing houses was a project he sought

The Union of Publishers in Syria has been for years, as confirmed by its president, Haitham Hafez, but the project found its way to the light this year, after the Ministry of Culture decided to postpone the International Book Fair at the Al-Assad Library due to the continuing conditions related to the Corona pandemic.

The head of the Publishers Association confirmed in a statement to SANA that the exhibition is directed to the Syrian public to introduce it to the distinguished book issued by publishing houses in our country, which has achieved a prominent position in the Arab world, where the discount rate on publications in the exhibition ranges between 30 and 50 percent, in order to achieve the slogan of the book is accessible to all, as well as a series Other offers via gifts and contests.

Hafez explains that the Syrian Book Fair is separate from the exhibition that the Al-Assad Library has held annually since 1985, revealing the efforts of the Publishers Union, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, to hold similar exhibitions for the book industry in Syria in various governorates in support of reading in general and for publishers in search of more knowledge.

According to Hafez, this exhibition dedicated a high percentage of his books to Syrian authors, as it hosts more than fifty signing ceremonies in the context of introducing our book and presenting it to the public.

The head of the Publishers Association indicated that the exhibition pavilions contain books directed at children and young people, with discounts being offered to encourage their purchase because they have high costs, as they depend on glossy paper, colors and images, noting the role of the Syrian General Book Authority to provide a book at the lowest possible price.
