Füssen - On Wednesday night the federal police arrested a Ukrainian wanted by an arrest warrant at the A7 border tunnel in Füssen.

The same shift had already picked up the man in November 2020 while attempting to enter the border tunnel without permission and then turned him back.

According to the Federal Police, the 28-year-old is now in the Kempten correctional facility.

Shortly after midnight, the federal police checked a Ukrainian national who was in possession of valid papers for entry into Germany.

During the search, however, the officials found that the man had been wanted by the Kempten public prosecutor's office since August.

Obviously, the Eastern European had not always been so careful with his travel documents in the past: Eleven months ago, according to the border guards, the then 27-year-old tried to enter Germany illegally via the Füssen border tunnel without sufficient papers.

His biometric passport with the Polish visa inside was allegedly stolen from the man in Milan.

The federal police reported the Ukrainian and then sent him back to Austria.

Due to the attempt of unauthorized entry, the Kaufbeuren district court had sentenced the Eastern European in January 2021 to pay a fine of around 1,300 euros in a penalty order.

Since the 28-year-old was unable to settle his judicial debts on site, the federal police delivered the arrested prisoner to the Kempten prison exactly two hours after the border control to serve a substitute prison sentence.
