Russia reported 1,123 deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours on Wednesday, a new historical record for the second day in a row, according to data from the country's coronavirus response center.
The previous record of 1,106 deaths in 24 hours was recorded on Tuesday.
The number of new cases in Russia remains high, with 36,582 new coronavirus infections reported on Wednesday.
This Monday the highest number of new cases of covid-19 was registered, with 37,930 daily infections.
Three regions - Moscow, the greater Moscow region and Saint Petersburg - concentrate more than a third of the cases of covid-19, according to the director of the country's sanitary control body, Anna Popova, according to RIA Novosti.

Russia will have the so-called "non-working days" from October 30 to November 7 to combat the spread of covid-19.
In Moscow the "non-working days" begin already this Thursday, October 28.

On Monday, the Kremlin published a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin encouraging regional heads to introduce a ban on entertainment events and catering services from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Putin's order states that the measure must be implemented before November 30.
The official death toll in Russia from covid-19 now stands at 233,898 since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases grew to 8,352,601.
