Today, Wednesday (October 27), there was an unusually long truck traffic jam between the south of Munich and Austria.

Block handling was the trigger for the stagnant traffic.

Rosenheim - Due to block processing on the border with Austria, there was a huge truck traffic jam between the south of Munich and the Austrian border on Wednesday, October 27th.

According to a spokesman for the police, this was "exceptionally long".

Both the A 96 and the A 8 autobahns were affected by the traffic chaos.

Truck traffic jams between Munich and Austria - even motorists barely made any progress

As the police announced, a nearly 50-kilometer-long truck traffic jam formed on the A 93 between Rosenheim * and Kufstein-Nord, in which motorists only made slow progress.

As a result of a traffic accident in Austria, there was a backlog that reached over the A 93 to the A 8 at Holzkirchen.

Block handling caused massive traffic jams on the A 96 and A 8

The trigger for the massive slowdown in traffic was block handling on the border with Austria.

According to the ADAC, Austria wants to use this traffic regulation to prevent truck traffic from congesting in the Innsbruck area and on the A 12 Inntal motorway.

This would happen, for example, if truck drivers wait on the German side because of a holiday in Austria and then drive off again almost at the same time.

In order to avoid this, according to the ADAC, Austria is also willing to accept that block handling will cause traffic obstructions in Germany.
