Hilde Dankes life was full - with a big family, an endless amount of work and a huge social network.

It was a Bruck institution, known throughout the city.

Now she has died at the age of 97.

Fürstenfeldbruck - your parents hadn't expected her - after three sons they were expecting a boy again.

They hadn't even come up with a maiden name.

And so they called the little one simply Hilda - after one of the names that were on the calendar as name days for her birthday on November 17th.

Hilda herself later made the last letter an "e" because she liked it better.

The parents ran a grocery store, a coal shop and a small farm in Bruck.

The daughter had to lend a hand early.

There weren't any free afternoons after school.

When her friends cycled to the lake to swim, Hilde Ranftl had to pick berries and deliver milk.

The fact that two of her brothers did not return home from the war brought her mother to the grave early.

In the food market

The hardworking girl caught the eye - among other things, the sister of Gustav Danke.

He had also lost two brothers in the war and had to give up his beloved job in the city administration to take over his father's carpenter's workshop.

He needed a capable woman like Hilde.

Thanks to the mediation of the sister, the wedding bells rang in 1944.

The young woman initially continued to work in her parents' grocery store, then she took over the carpentry's bookkeeping.

She also took care of the household.

Four daughters and one son were born between 1946 and 59.

The work never stopped, especially when Hilde took in boarders in the new house on Kapellenstrasse.

And yet she managed to devote herself lovingly to her children and had an open ear for all needs.

Hilde has hardly had any time for herself all these years.

However, the ladies 'regulars' table, which developed from a gymnastics course at TuS Fürstenfeldbruck, was sacred to her.

For 60 years she met her friends once a week in turn in all of Bruck's restaurants.

She also usually organized a second get-together with the wives of Gustav's carpenter colleagues - as well as the monthly class reunions with schoolmates.

When they became less mobile with increasing age, the active elderly woman even worked as a driver service.

When she was over 90, she drove quickly and safely - with a driver's license issued by the American occupation soldiers in April 1946.

It wasn't until 2017 that Hilde Danke sold her car.

Love for football

She loved football since her youth. When the train with the world championship eleven drove through Bruck in 1954, Hilde Danke ran to the station to cheer the players on. She had made herself extra chic - all the more annoying that a heel of her high heels broke off on the way. When her son Karl played in the youth team, she never missed a game. And she followed all FC Bayern encounters with enthusiasm live on Sky TV.

In order to stay fit herself, she did gymnastics every day in old age and rode a lot of bicycles. Mentally, too, she stayed wide awake, read the home newspaper every day and never forgot a birthday, name day, wedding day or other special day of a family member. Children and children-in-law, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren liked to gather at their Sunday coffee tables. Only one thing was missing recently: daughter Brigitte died of cancer in 2014 - for Hilde Thank you, a widow for a long time, certainly the most painful loss of her life.

She lived in her house on Stiglmayrstrasse until the end, celebrated the wedding of a granddaughter last year and was happy about the birth of her youngest great-grandson.

She was just able to get to know little Jonas and hold him in her arms.

"Now the new thing is here, now I can go," she said afterwards.

Only five days later, Hilde Danke fell asleep peacefully with her family.
