Many people think that antiques are the play of the rich. In fact, there is an antique street on Hollywood Road with many antique shops. You can see the ancient and modern Chinese and Western cultures of Hong Kong.

In recent months, an organization has cooperated with several shops in the antique street to present the unique cultural heritage and characteristics of antiques in a new way with Hong Kong artists, hoping to reshape the inherent impression of antiques in the public mind through artworks and help the public to uncover The mystery of the antique shop.

Nan Fung Group has promoted the concept of sustainable "resilient cities" since launching the "World Covenant" project, and introduced the public to learn from different angles to observe the details of life and feel the connection with the community.

The most recent "Approach-Hollywood Dao" is one of the activities of the seventh part of the group's "Covenant of the World"-Covenant with Antiquities and Culture.

The event was co-operated by the group and the curator MUSTHAVEKEYS. Six Hong Kong artists were invited to use their imagination and understanding of antiques and Hollywood Road to incorporate different elements. Exhibited its exhibits in two exhibition venues.

Shi Jiahao is one of the invited artists at the event, and his exhibits are based on the characteristics of the antique shop Yongxingxing and Qianxintang.

Before starting to create, he personally visited the antique shop he collaborated with, and walked into Hollywood Road along the map of the exhibition community.

Shi Jiahao recalled that after entering Yongxing, what attracted his attention was not the dazzling array of exquisite antiques made of ceramics, but a storage corner made of stacked old cardboard boxes on the side of the shop.

"I saw some paper suitcases and paper suitcases, and there were books on auction records and ceramics on them."

These cardboard boxes reminded him of a workshop held 9 years ago. His creations are mainly meticulous paintings. Because this activity emphasizes neatness and meticulous technique, it is difficult for the participants to have a complete experience in a few hours of workshops.

Shi Jiahao hopes to add elements that symbolize Chinese traditions, such as blue and white and colored porcelain, through carton creation, echoing the other antiques in the shop, integrating the overall environment, and becoming an alternative decoration.

In distress, he thought that his studio was located in an industrial building, and he saw many cartons full of goods every day, so he thought of using acrylic paints and brushes to create on the cartons to simplify the fine brushwork.

This concept also extends to the artistic creation in this event. Shi Jiahao hopes to add elements that symbolize Chinese traditions such as blue and white and colored porcelain through the carton creation, echoing the other antiques in the store, integrating the overall environment, and becoming an alternative decoration.

Another antique shop, Qianxintang, mainly uses human-shaped pottery statues, Buddha statues and some ancient funerary objects.

Many types of antiques make people feel like being in a museum.

Shi Jiahao believes that most antique shops only store antiques and cultural relics in the store, and there are few notes next to them. People who don't know much about antiques will be deterred because of this, and even if they are interested, they will not dare to enter the store.

Break people's fixed impression of traditional culture and handicrafts

In order to narrow the distance between people and antiques, when Shi Jiahao designed the exhibits for Qian Xintang, he focused on how to describe antiques, which made it easier for people to understand.

In the end, he thought that carton designs could be used as packaging for antiques, and their origins could be painted in patterns like product information.

Shi Jiahao put one of the funerary antiques from the Han Dynasty "Han-style Leju" into a model package, and painted Leju's accessories on the carton, so that the viewer can more clearly understand the information of the antique. "I think it is a relatively new one Ways, such as packaging them into toys, can be easy to start."

Shi Jiahao hopes to help the public taste historical relics by exhibiting different art exhibits, so that more people are willing to enter antique shops.

"I want to make art works a way of translating ancient cultural relics/traditional art into modern languages, helping to re-present the stories of cultural relics, making it easier to understand. It seems to be a set of films that express classical Chinese texts through art, which makes it easier to get started. , Are willing to come in contact, and then generate interest."

The representative of MUSTHAVEKEYS, the curatorial unit, believes that the event can uncover different possibilities in art. Antiques were previously regarded as mysterious objects by the public, and there was no chance to learn more about them.

The event provides an opportunity for people to let more people know valuable antiquities.

During the preparation of the event, people in the art circle will also communicate with antique industry players, and break people's fixed impression of traditional culture and handicrafts through the hands of artists.

The representative of Nan Fung Group's "World Covenant" who organized the exhibition hoped that through the event, the public would better understand the relationship between antiques and the community. It is not as far away as imagined. Using novel and modern methods to interpret antiques makes people willing to take the first step. Get in touch with antiques firsthand.
