The director of the branch of the General Organization for Seed Propagation in Hama, Engineer Abdul Ghani Al-Aswad, announced the opening of the contract with farmers to produce wheat and barley seeds from the propagating fields, noting that 1,300 tons of wheat seed will be distributed to the farmers who will be contracted to cultivate an area estimated at 50 thousand acres, while it will be Cultivation of 15 thousand acres of barley crop.

Al-Aswad pointed out in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the farmer wishing to contract with the branch must submit a request to the extension unit near him to determine the area required to be planted with wheat, and after the end of the deadline set for receiving requests for contracting with farmers, a committee from the branch will be formed to study the requests and ensure their compliance with the required specifications He pointed out that the selling price of wheat seed for the current season was set at 1,585 pounds per kilogram and 1,725 ​​pounds per kilogram of barley.

Al-Aswad indicated that the branch continues sifting and sterilizing the wheat received from the breeding fields for the last season to be distributed to farmers this season, adding that to date, six thousand tons of wheat seeds have been distributed to the agricultural banks in the governorate, while 2,600 tons have been shipped to the foundation’s branches in other governorates.

During the last season, the breeding fields in Hama produced 18,200 tons of wheat and 240 tons of barley.
