Statistics from the Census and Statistics Department show that in the first eight months of this year, Hong Kong's monthly imports of frozen raw chickens and chicken feet have dropped significantly.
Among them, the amount of retained chicken feet dropped by 94.8% from 9587.5 tons in January to 495 tons in August; and the amount of retained chicken feet fell by 53.3% from 1546.5 tons in January to 721.8 tons in August.
As for frozen chicken wings and chicken pieces, they fell to a new low this year at the beginning of the year, and then the amount of retained imports rebounded and remained relatively stable.
Taking chicken wings as an example, the monthly retained import volume ranges from 4530.6 tons to 1387.8 tons, a difference of 3.3 times between the two.
As for the price, compared with the beginning of the year, the price of chicken offal fluctuated. The import price per kilogram was as high as 23.1 yuan in May, which was nearly twice as expensive as in January. After that, the price fell and rose to 18.3 yuan in August. 52.5% expensive in January.
The import price per kilogram of other frozen chicken products was generally stable, while the price of refrigerated chicken wings continued to fall, from 21.2 yuan per kilogram at the beginning of the year to 18.5 yuan in August, a decrease of 12.7%.
