THE World University Reputation Rankings 17 Mainland Schools Reached Top 200, New High Hong Kong University Ranks Top 50

"Times Higher Education" (THE) announced the 2021 ranking of the world's best prestigious universities, the first two continue to be taken over by American universities, the first is Harvard University.

There are 17 universities in the Mainland that have entered the world's top 200, the most since records, and Tsinghua University has risen to the 10th place.

There are four universities in Hong Kong on the list, and the University of Hong Kong ranks the highest.

Tsinghua University in the Mainland ranked 10th for the first time

In the 2021 THE World's Best Reputable University Rankings, Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology have won the first two places, and the University of Oxford in the UK has jumped two places to rank third in the world.

There are 17 universities in the Mainland that have entered the world's top 200, the largest number on record, and the third-largest number on the list. The first is the United States, with 57 on the list, followed by the United Kingdom with 25.

Tsinghua University in the Mainland has risen three places from last year, ranking 10th.

In terms of colleges and universities in Asia, Tsinghua University has risen three levels from last year, ranking 10th in the world; Peking University has risen one place and ranked 15th.

Japan has 11 colleges and universities on the list, and the University of Tokyo ranks 13th, down 3 levels from last year.

The National University of Singapore remains ranked 24th.

Seoul National University of South Korea was promoted to 4th grade and ranked 41st.

The Chief Knowledge Officer of THE stated that for the first time, a mainland institution has ranked in the top ten, reflecting that the performance of higher education in the mainland has attracted more and more international attention. It is expected that more scholars and students will be attracted to the mainland in the future.

Four colleges and universities ranked 48th in the top 200 Hong Kong

As for Hong Kong's institutions, there are four institutions on the list. The University of Hong Kong ranks the highest, ranking 48th, which is an increase from the 51st to 60th last year.

The remaining three institutions are "struggling". HKUST ranks "91 to 100", CUHK ranks "101 to 125", and PolyU ranks "126 to 150".

The calculation method of THE rankings is based on a questionnaire, which interviews 100,000 scholars with experience and published papers around the world, and then is calculated after weighting.
