The gender entry »X« is to be offered by all routine passport applicants in early 2022

The USA issued the first passport with the indication "X" for a third gender.
"We look forward to being able to offer this option to all routine passport applicants as soon as we have completed the necessary system and form updates in early 2022," the US State Department announced on Wednesday.
Instead of an "M" for "male" or an "F" for "female", people who cannot be assigned to either of these genders can now enter an "X".
The ministry had already announced the new regulation in the summer.
Gender identity has many forms: not all people fit into the categories of women or men.
