The teacher was found inside her house with the door closed and without signs. of intruders, and the snow outside was intact. But she seemed happy and left half-eaten food and a full tank for the next day. "Find out who murdered our daughter," claims her family.

Ellen Greenberg, a 27-year-old first grade teacher, was alone in her apartment when she died after receiving 20 stab wounds to the head, neck and torso.

The autopsy determined that he committed suicide.

But new evidence may turn the investigation around.

On January 26, 2011, the teacher at Juniata Park Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, returned home early due to a snowstorm.

Hours later, when her fiancé, Sam Goldberg, returned from the gym, he found her dead.

The incident was initially considered a suicide: there were no suspects, she was alone, the apartment had been locked from the inside,

no noise was reported, no stolen object was reported and there were no videos that could make anyone suspect.

Furthermore, he did not appear to have defensive wounds and only his DNA was found on the knife and on his clothing.

For Greenberg's parents, however, this theory did not hold.

"It doesn't make sense," his attorney, Joseph Podraza, explained to The Washington Post.

Earlier this month they filed a lawsuit against the medical examiner's office, accusing it of sloppy investigation, and asked that the autopsy finding be overturned.

"

Let's hope that the trial will be held in the hope that justice will be served for Ellen,

" Sandra Greenberg, Ellen's mother, told KYW-TV.

"We would like the cause and manner of death to be changed to homicide," as reported by Local21news.

"That would be the best we could hope for," he stressed.

"We want justice for our daughter," Ellen's father, Josh Greenberg, insisted on CBS Philly.

Police found no evidence that an intruder had entered the house: the layer of snow outside the building was intact and there was nothing to suggest that it was a robbery.

Greenberg's parents told police they had no reason to suspect their fiancé and her psychiatrist reported that she was happy in the relationship and denied any abuse.

In the absence of evidence, the forensic doctor determined that it had been a suicide

Experts hired by Greenberg's parents pointed to several reasons why the young woman may have died from homicide.

If he had planned to commit suicide, the lawyers and experts asked, why did he fill up the gas tank after leaving school?

Why didn't you leave a note?

Why did you leave a half-finished fruit salad on your body?

And why did he stab himself?

"

This was not a suicide,

" Podraza told the aforementioned media.

For his part, the Philadelphia attorney said that Dr. Marlon Osbourne and the medical examiner's office made an informed decision "based on years of experience."

They also have an expert's analysis of Ellen's computer technology suggesting that she never did suicide-related web searches, as the state's attorney's office alleges.

"The investigation should be reopened with an independent investigator," Josh said.
