Holzkirchen -

The extension of the Holzkirchen private school was completed in time for the new school year.

Since September, the students can now also be taught in the new building.

In 2014 the school, which runs a primary school and a high school, acquired the former hospital building.

Three years later the way was cleared for the cultivation.

This replaces the "container village" that previously stood on the site of the new building.

There shouldn't be more students, but according to the management, the two schools now have more space, for example for the library and group rooms.

Private students in the parents' taxi: residents upset

But the new building has not absorbed the concerns of some neighbors. The stumbling block is and remains the traffic: in the morning and at noon, when the pupils are brought and picked up by their parents, the volume of traffic increases and annoys many residents. When the new building was approved, they complain, there were promises to better regulate traffic. A change in traffic lights at the junction between the Krankenhausstrasse and Münchner Strasse would help. In fact, in 2017 the market town asked the State Rosenheim whether an extension of the green phases in Krankenhausstrasse was possible. The answer was negative. Between 6 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., the traffic light was switched on with a green phase of 25 seconds in favor of Krankenhausstrasse. More is not possible due to the volume of traffic,it says in the statement of the state building authority.

Trouble about private school in Holzkirchen: residents demand measures

Upon request, the school management was informed that the beginning and end of school would meanwhile be staggered in order to increase the volume of traffic. The high traffic volume in the morning and afternoon is limited to half an hour each “in two time windows”. Outside of these times, “practically no traffic” is caused, according to the school management. In addition, 30 new parking spaces have been created; the staff parking lot has been enlarged. The parents had been asked to regard Krankenhausstrasse as a one-way street and to drive to the school via Marxbauerstrasse. That has already led to a significant improvement. The neighbors also want such a solution. However, this should not be based on voluntariness, but should be regulated in a binding manner in terms of traffic planning.

Too many parents' taxis at the private school in Holzkirchen: conversation with the mayor

At a recent meeting between Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) and the school, it was agreed to “tighten up” traffic education: the children were “strongly encouraged to come by public transport,” reports Annika Walther, Head of Public Relations at the Holzkirchen town hall.

The school is also ready for further discussions with the neighbors, emphasized the school management.
