Weyarn - On Tuesday, October 26th, fraudsters attempted to blackmail a 67-year-old woman from Weyarn.
As the police reported, the 67-year-old's laptop was blocked by a so-called "BKA Trojan".
She was asked to pay 200 euros in prepaid cards.
According to the police report, the Weyarn woman did not respond to the request.
She responded correctly: she did not pay and instead reported the attempted fraud.
Fraudsters fail when attempting blackmail
Here, too, the police give the general tip: Under no circumstances should you pay if you receive such a pop-up message on your computer. You will no longer be able to use your computer normally even if you pay. Because as soon as the message appears, your computer is already infected with the malicious software. Report the incident to the police - make a note of your last actions on the computer in order to understand how the malware got onto your computer. The general rule is: Always keep the update status of your operating system and the anti-virus software you are using the current status. This increases the chances that there is no infection with malware in the first place.
