The Upper Bavarian district ranks fifth among Germany-wide hotspots.

Now the district office names possible reasons.

Munich

- The corona numbers in Germany are rising and rising.

On Wednesday, October 27, the Robert Koch Institute * (RKI) reported a 7-day incidence * of 191.3 for Bavaria.

The third highest in all of Germany.

Eight of the ten most affected districts and cities are in the Free State.

The Mühldorf am Inn district is and remains the front runner.

The only district in Germany marked with the color pink on the dashboard - which means an incidence over 500.

This is currently at 592.4.

The district of Traunstein (498.6) follows by some distance in second place.

In third to fifth place are the districts of Berchtesgadener Land (489.1), Straubing-Bogen (454.1) and Miesbach (443.2).

The district of Miesbach, which also includes the popular regions of Tegernsee and Schliersee, is now announcing possible reasons for the explosion in numbers for the first time in a press release.

Specifically, seven points are named to which the increase in incidence can be attributed.

Corona numbers in Miesbach are extremely high: District Office names seven possible reasons

1. Corona-positive return travelers

In Bavaria, the summer holidays traditionally end late in Germany.

From the beginning of August to mid-September there was no school - while the federal states were already shortly before the autumn break.

The momentum of positive return travelers came late - and there would have been “no recovery phase” before autumn with its cold and wet flu weather, writes the district administration.

2. Infections among students in private

The data from the health department show that the many students who are currently infected with Corona were almost exclusively infected at private meetings.

Thus, contrary to what was feared, the schools are not pandemic drivers.

Just a few days ago, Miesbach's pandemic coordinator Dr.

Florian Meier, in an interview with

Miesbacher Merkur,

told of so-called "Corona parties" that are currently very popular with young people.

3. An infected person infects entire families

An infected person now often infects the whole family.

That was different in the past, writes the health department.

In the case of unvaccinated families, the quota is now usually 100 percent.

At the beginning of the pandemic, it was only around two thirds of all family members - i.e. 60 to 70 percent.

Corona in Bavaria: quarantine time shortened - unwitting virus transmission

4. Too short quarantine times for contact persons

The quarantine time for asymptomatic contacts has been shortened.

After the fifth day you can test yourself out of isolation.

But appearances are often deceptive: Many “free-tested” still carry the virus in themselves and later unwittingly spread it, according to the press release.

5. Incorrect assessment of the signs of illness

Since an infection with the coronavirus and the Covid-19 disease have symptoms similar to those of a flu infection, the signs are often initially ignored or misinterpreted, Miesbach continues.

Infected people could spread Sars-CoV-2 further without even knowing it.

6. Disregard of the protective measures

The increasing carelessness of many citizens when following the Corona measures also causes headaches for the employees of the Miesbach district office.

Many “... deliberately or out of negligence no longer adhered to protective measures such as wearing a mask and distance rules”.

In addition, it cannot be ruled out that infections from severely affected neighboring districts - such as Bad Tölz - also drive the numbers in Miesbach up.

7. Vaccination rate not high enough

According to the district office, a total of 63,000 people in the Miesbach district have been fully vaccinated to date.

Thus the quota is higher than in the immediate neighboring districts.

However, it is by no means sufficient.

The total quota of people in Bavaria who are fully vaccinated against the virus is currently 64 percent.

In a nationwide comparison, Bavaria is only in twelfth place.

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) had already repeatedly spoken of a vaccination rate of 85 percent that could be achieved in previous press addresses.

Corona in Miesbach: District Administrator appeals to all citizens to be careful and careful

According to District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU), the situation in the Miesbach Hospital in Agatharied is already tense - even if the hospital traffic light * in Bavaria as a whole is currently still on "green".

Although this makes further protective measures legally possible, he prefers supra-regional solutions.

Individual restrictions are difficult to convey.

In the communication, von Löwis therefore once again urged all citizens to adhere to the measures given and to be tested immediately if symptoms occur.
