Everyone is talking about 2G, but there is a difference between those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered: one is only considered to be recovered for up to 180 days. There is no chance to renew the status.

Everyone is talking about 2G, but there is a difference between those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered: one is only considered to be recovered for up to 180 days.

There is no chance to renew the status.

District -

Claudia Brandner found it strange: Although she lives in a multi-generation household with her husband, child and in-laws in Peißenberg, so she is in constant contact with one another, only her father-in-law and herself tested positive in a corona test in January, Husband and child, on the other hand, do not.

After the harmless course and the quarantine, Brandner wanted to know exactly and had an antibody test done for the whole family.

"It turned out that my husband and my child have even more antibodies than me, even though they never officially had Corona," says Brandner.

Corona in Bavaria: Family is considered recovered - but strict regulations make things complicated

With the status of the convalescent, the family got through the first half of the year well, but the restriction by the 180-day rule made things complicated from the summer onwards.

The Bavarian Ministry of Health refers to the Standing Vaccination Commission, which recommends a single vaccination dose for those who have recovered, usually six months after infection.

"This is considered fully vaccinated," said a spokesman.

After the symptoms have ended, the period can now even be shortened to four weeks.

Recently, one has also been considered fully vaccinated if an accredited laboratory detects an antibody and then receives an injection - so that would be perfectly suitable for the Brandners.

After corona infection: The doctor advises against vaccination because of high antibody levels

But her doctor advised against her - the high number of antibodies is a problem with a vaccination, reports Brandner. "In a new antibody test, the values were so high that they could no longer be measured," says Brandner. When she went to the local health department with her problem, "I was only advised to change doctors," she says, shaking her head. Her mother, who is over 80 years old and who had no antibodies, “of course had them vaccinated. I'm not a vaccination opponent. "

The ministry spokesman emphasizes that, according to the study results available so far, there is no evidence that the vaccination after a SARS-CoV-2 infection would be problematic or associated with dangers.

Such persons were also included in the approval studies, "and the vaccination was not tolerated any worse by these persons".

Local and systemic reactions after the vaccinations were sometimes even less pronounced.

No corona vaccination after infection?

Ministry spokesman takes a position

The dynamics of the antibody course are basically similar after a vaccination and infection, according to the spokesman: “Antibodies can be detected after about a week, which then decrease again after vaccination or infection up to about six months. After six months, similar antibody titers were found in a study after infection or vaccination, other studies showed higher antibody titers than after infection with certain vaccination schemes Vaccination reaction, etc.), "the individual course can vary greatly," said the ministry spokesman.

Another mother from the district, who prefers to remain anonymous, has had similar experiences to Brander.

Her entire family of five was caught in December, that is, her, her husband and the three children (13, 9 and 2 years old).

“I have now had an antibody test done again and I still have stable antibodies.

After infection: "My daughter has to justify herself at school why she is not vaccinated"

My daughter has to justify herself at school why she has not been vaccinated, ”she says and also emphasizes that the doctor advises against vaccination if the antibody levels are high.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't matter whether a vaccination makes sense for us or not, but politicians ignore it vehemently." To extend recovered status but not yet received a response.

Recovered status: A different corona regulation applies in Austria

In response to our request, the Bavarian Ministry of Health commented on this aspect: “Bavaria and Austria are striving to coordinate their corona protective measures and to order comparable measures. Nevertheless, there are differences that affect political decisions as well as the infection rate, ”the spokesman writes. And that applies to the proof in Austria of a positive test for neutralizing antibodies for a period of 90 days as proof of a low epidemiological risk.

"The current regulation in Bavaria on the convalescence status is based on the COVID-19 Protective Measures Exception Ordinance (SchAusnahmV) of the federal government." Days and a maximum of six months ago.

“Due to federal regulations, the convalescent status cannot be extended after the six-month period has expired,” it says.

This means that those who have recovered who cannot / do not want to be vaccinated are “further excluded”, as Brandner puts it.

"If I didn't have an employer who would accept that, I'd have a problem." That could soon also affect the vaccinated: The vaccination certificate is only valid for one year.
