Damascus-SANA

International Syrian plastic artist Sarah Shamma met with the audience in an open dialogue meeting in which she discussed her artistic career over 25 years, presenting her vision about life, art and man.

The dialogue meeting hosted by Zawaya Gallery, prepared and moderated by Mulham Al-Saleh, began with a documentary film about the artist Sarah from her childhood to the present time, including the most important stations in her professional and personal life, to answer the questions of the interviewees and the interventions of the audience.

Regarding the importance of her meeting with the public in Damascus, the artist Sarah said in a statement to Sana, "I have a great longing to communicate with the public in Damascus with a great desire to tell them how the past ten years have passed since my experience and my artistic career in general, and to inform

them of my new works and receive their questions and answer them."

Sarah, who wants to hold a retrospective exhibition of her work during the war, said about the impact of the war on her work.. “I was greatly affected by the war and left me with a feeling of fear and panic, and this is not measured by the suffering and pain of those who were displaced from their homes, martyred, or subjected to violence and physical injuries, they or their families and all That left its mark on me and embodied in my painting.”

On the exhibition she presented in London on the subject of war, she indicated that European peoples in general do not know the facts that are taking place in our country, which prompted them to bear part of the responsibility to clarify the truth about what is happening in Syria to the British community during the past years.

Sarah pointed out that she contributed to the arrival of a number of British people to Syria during the war period between 2017 and 2018, who were surprised by what they saw of the Syrians continuing to live in various fields as a result of the absence of these facts in the Western media due to the anti-Syrian policy.

During the meeting, Sarah indicated that her tendency towards portraiture came because of her love for him and his ability to monitor human history, feelings and thoughts, and that it is in line with her endeavor to present a painting that leaves an impact on life and for the viewer in an accessible international language, stressing that the Syrian plastic artist is no less creative in terms of creativity than the world famous artists. But he lacks boldness, marketing skills, and communication with international technical institutions.

The artist Sarah is currently preparing for several projects, including two individual projects that will be unveiled after a year and a half, one on the theme of death and immortality, which is inspired by the destroyed tombs and will be held in the Cambridge City Museum, and another project in a gallery and museum in London inspired by a collection of works by a British artist.
