The General Authority for the Management and Development of Al-Ghab started the works of isolating and wiring the water drains and ferries in various locations in the Al-Ghab area, starting from Shataha, passing through Naour Shataha and the pavement to Al-Freekeh, in preparation for the winter season and to avoid the flooding of agricultural lands.
In statements to SANA’s reporter, Ziad Othman, head of the Agricultural Association in Shataha, and Dawlat Rostom, head of the Agricultural Association in Salhab, explained that the work of isolating water drains and irrigation channels implemented by the Authority’s mechanisms in cooperation with agricultural associations comes to reduce water collection, regulate its flow and prevent losses in agricultural crops for farmers.
The head of the Ain Selimu Irrigation Center, Eng. Asaad Bardan, indicated that these works contribute to the preservation of agricultural lands and crops, especially the works of wiring the “C1” canal through early adopters, which is filled with dust, silt and weed residues, pointing out that the removal of these canals has significant positive repercussions in protecting the lands adjacent to the canal from flooding. Reducing the losses caused by torrential rains and the protection of the houses scattered on the outskirts of the canal.
The head of the agricultural department in Shata, Eng. Mohsen Ali, pointed out the importance of isolating the banks, especially during this period, when parts of the channels along their length are witnessing blockages and bottlenecks, noting that the isolation works come to drain them according to priority and focus on the most urgent ones.
