Justice Minister Meier against the fortified border with Belarus

Saxony's Justice Minister Katja Meier (Greens) has objected to Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU )’s request for a fortified EU external border with Belarus. The Belarusian ruler Lukashenko is conducting politics on the backs of people who do not set out voluntarily. "Anyone who gets involved by isolating themselves makes people the plaything of political interests," said Meier on Thursday at MDR Aktuell.

The Belarusian ruler Lukashenko is conducting politics on the backs of people who do not set out voluntarily.

"Anyone who gets involved by isolating themselves makes people the plaything of political interests," said Meier on Thursday at MDR Aktuell.

Dresden - Kretschmer had previously said in Brussels on Tuesday that he saw fortified border fortifications as an effective means of getting a grip on the influx of refugees on the EU's external border with Belarus.

The CDU politician added: "Nobody is interested in walls, but now it is a matter of the European Union proving its ability to defend itself."
