There were many obstacles, the groundbreaking took place in the smallest circle due to Corona, plus the cost explosion. Now the renovation of the Kühnhauser Weiher was celebrated.

There were many obstacles, the groundbreaking took place in the smallest circle due to Corona, plus the cost explosion.

Now the renovation of the Kühnhauser Weiher was celebrated.

Kranzberg / Kühnhausen

- The declared goal was to wake the Kühnhauser Weiher from its slumber so that it can make its contribution to local recreation as well as biodiversity in the future. This is the goal of the community of Kranzberg, has the Office for Rural Development, has ILE cultural area Ampertal, all companies involved have now officially reached on Wednesday: With the inauguration and the church blessing, the project "Renovation Kühnhauser Weiher" was successfully completed.

The list of guests that Kranzberg's mayor Hermann Hammerl was able to welcome at the new meeting point of his community was long, and everyone was very enthusiastic about the successful project.

What could not be missing on Wednesday, of course, was a look back at the past years, in which one has approached step by step a project that brings many advantages.

In 2012 - Hammerl was able to find out from the documents of the community that there are first considerations to renovate the pond.

From 2013 financial resources amounting to 50,000 euros will be placed in the municipality's budget.

But there are arguments against the renovation time and again - the project in the version originally envisaged will never be implemented.

Then, in 2017, the administration of the municipality of Kranzberg took up the topic again, looked for possible state subsidies, and finally found what they were looking for at the Office for Rural Development within the framework of village renewal.

This is followed in 2018 by the planning order to the Wipflerplan office, a public information event, an initial concept and - after the wishes of the citizens have been incorporated - a final plan.

"This resulted in what you can see implemented here today," emphasized Hammerl on Wednesday at the inauguration ceremony.

The 50,000 euros earmarked for this in 2013 will end up being costs of 1.3 million euros.

Because on the way to implementation, the municipality is struggling with costly setbacks: in late autumn 2019, contaminated sites that are hazardous to water will be found.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Thanks to the commitment of 69 percent funding from the Office for Rural Development (including an ILE bonus of ten percent), nothing stands in the way of implementing the plans in January 2020. As the most economical bidder, the municipality can get the Schelle company on board. At the groundbreaking ceremony on October 14, 2020, Hermann Hammerl regrets the small size of the ceremony due to the corona and promises to celebrate the end together with everyone involved. "I will keep this promise today", as Hammerl emphasized on Wednesday. The annoyance about the high disposal costs is forgotten. And the surprises with regard to all pipes - from dirty water to the main water pipe - that stand in the way of the project and first have to be laid, play now, after completion,no longer matter. The biotope filled with rubbish in the middle of Kühnhausen is a thing of the past.

After the church blessing that Pastor Hermann Schlicker donates and in which he compares the pond with an embryo that still has to grow, another special feature is on the agenda for the official opening: Birgit Böhm from the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests is planting together with Hermann Hammerl, Monika Hirl from the Office for Rural Development and the Greens MdL Johannes Becher on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of village renewal at the Kühnhauser Weiher one of a total of 40 winter linden trees.

And what about the advantages of the renovation in addition to the recreational aspect?

"With this construction measure, the heavy rain events are also taken into account - with a generous surface water retention volume," explains Hammerl.

And one more thing: the newly created walkway including lighting at the pond ensures more safety for the children from Kühnhausen, who in future will no longer have to walk to the bus stop in the dark.
