Students and trade unionists continue to demand the assignment of 61 of their comrades still not registered at the university, and occupy i

A month and a half after the start of the school year, the mobilization for the “without-college” continues on the campus of the University of Paris-Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine).

Since Wednesday evening, about forty students, supported by UNEF, have occupied the offices of the presidency for an indefinite period, in order to demand the enrollment of the 61 students who are still unassigned.

This Thursday morning, a support rally was held at the foot of the Grappin administrative building, in the presence of representatives of the Hauts-de-Seine trade unions, including the CGT, FO, FSU and Solidaires 92. According to a press release published on Thursday by the collective of "sans-fac", a meeting of negotiations would have been proposed to the presidency of the university, which refused.

A new rally was scheduled for Thursday evening, before another night of occupation.

"At our level, we cannot do more"

At the beginning of October, the “sans-fac” had already taken over the Grappin building, while around a hundred cases were still pending. This time, the mobilization follows a press release from the president of the university, Philippe Gervais-Lambony, published on October 25, in which he indicates that he transmitted to the rectorate a certain number of files for which the university had "not found a solution ”. The president insists in particular on the efforts made by the University of Nanterre on the issue of unassigned students. “At our level, we cannot do more,” the statement said, however.

False, answer the “sans-fac”, for whom this referral to the rectorate, already seized by the students last July, is a way for the presidency to “relinquish responsibility”, according to Victor Mendez, activist at UNEF Nanterre. On Wednesday evening, after taking over the offices of the Grappin building, they posted a video on Twitter to call for massive support. Viewed nearly 85,000 times, it drew the attention of several political figures, such as Julien Bayou, secretary general of Europe Écologie-Les Verts, Olivier Besancenot, spokesperson for the NPA, or the deputies of France Insoumise de Seine-Saint-Denis Alexis Corbière and Éric Coquerel.

A spotlight that persuaded them to continue their occupation.

"We will leave when we have guarantees on the assignment of the 61 remaining students to Nanterre", indicates the collective.

When contacted, the university presidency did not respond to our requests.
