Now it's a done deal: Tegernseer Tal relies on 3G for Advent markets

Anyone visiting one of the large Advent markets at Tegernsee must be vaccinated, tested or recovered.

The mayors have now agreed on the 3G rule for the magic of lights.

Tegernseer Tal

- The Bavarian state government is hardly ordering any corona-related restrictions on the Christmas markets this year.

In the Tegernsee Valley, people still want to be on the safe side: the mayors have now officially decided in their official meeting that the 3G rule should apply to the three large Advent markets in Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern and Bad Wiessee.

In other words, if you want to enjoy the sparkle of lights and the magic of the booth, you have to be vaccinated, recovered or tested negative.

Churches and TTT argue: We take the risk

The municipalities are thus following a corresponding recommendation by Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).

Event manager Peter Rie had already announced a few weeks ago that the trend was going in this direction.

"The situation is clear to us," says Rie.

After all, the municipalities as the organizer and the TTT as the host of the Christmas markets are responsible for the safety and health of the visitors: "We bear the risk."

There should be separate entry and exit areas for each store

In order to minimize this - even in times of high incidence - there should be separate entry and exit areas at the Schlossmarkt in Tegernsee, the Rottacher Advent and the Wiesseer Seeadvent.

“Plans are being drawn up in the municipalities as to how the individual markets can be sealed off,” reports Rie.

In Tegernsee it is still about how the passage from the castle towards the lake is ensured.

Compliance with the 3Gs is checked at the respective market entrances.

Presumably the visitors will then be given a ribbon that entitles them to take a stroll through the market.

"The fine-tuning of the planning is still pending," says Rie.

Commuter ships and shuttle buses are deliberately not used

One thing is already certain: The Tegernsee does not want to exceed the upper limit of 1000 visitors per market this year.

In a small market area like the one on the Rottacher lakeside, there should be significantly fewer guests if possible.

The popular shuttle ships and shuttle buses that brought visitors from market to market in pre-Corona times will also not exist this time.

TTT and municipalities deliberately do not want to force the change.

Gmunder Nikolausmarkt: Mayor also assumes 3G here

In addition to the three large Advent magic markets, there will also be a pre-Christmas program in Gmund and Kreuth this year.

For the Gmunder Nikolausmarkt on December 5th, Mayor Alfons Besel is also assuming a 3G regulation.

A final meeting with the clubs is still pending, "I don't expect any major contradiction," says Besel.

For markets that are not organized by the municipality but by associations in the lead - as in Kreuth - the respective organizers will be appealed to "also join the 3G recommendation," says Rie.
