Hundreds of the rabbi's followers demonstrated and prayed last night (Wednesday) in front of the Ayalon prison complex in Ramla, which Berland will enter this morning, three and a half years after he was released from it.

As you may recall, Berland was convicted last April of receiving anything by fraud, extortion, attempted intimidation, tax offenses and money laundering.

According to the plea agreement signed with him, he confessed to the acts and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but most of them had already been served while he was in custody for a long time, and now he has only five left.

Berland was also fined NIS 2.5 million in favor of the state, paid compensation to the victims of the crime and sentenced to probation for one year.
