Altenerding - The Altenerding parish library has received new reading material for autumn.

She will introduce him to the open house on Saturday.

And there is a lot more to do.

The Altenerding parish library is a paradise for readers. There is a huge selection of books, audio books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, games and tonies that can be borrowed free of charge. At the open house on Saturday, October 30th, the new books from autumn shopping will be presented and can then be borrowed immediately. This is announced by the library manager Renate Paukner-Fill. We asked some enthusiastic users about their reading habits.

Susanne Lenar (34) has been loyal to "her" library since her youth, although the family now lives in the Williamsville district. Since daughter Anna (8) was born, the focus has been on children's books. While daughter Greta (4) is still interested in picture books, her sisters Eva (7) and Anna are already reading themselves. “I especially like horse books,” says Anna Lenar enthusiastically. The family visits the facility on Pfarrer-Fischer-Strasse every two to three weeks. “There is a great selection here. We always find new books, but also some that we have read before and found particularly good, ”praises father Peter Lenar.

Martina Burghard (71) from Altenerdingen has been coming to the library in the basement of the parish hall for more than 50 years. The avowed frequent reader is also very impressed with the selection. She likes reading modern authors like Julie Zeh or Petra Hammesfahr and prefers the less brutal ones in crime novels. “And if I don't like a book, I stop in the middle,” she admits. Burghard was happy that the library did not let its readers down during the corona pandemic and that book baskets were constantly being made available for collection.

Third grader Lukas is particularly fond of exciting books and recommends “Das kleine böse Buch”. “You have to solve puzzles and then read on,” says the eight-year-old, who fetches supplies every two weeks. Lena (11) first came to the library as a toddler - and has been regularly since then. She likes to borrow thick books, especially fantasy stories. "Last year I had even more time to read because of Corona," says the pupil, who is in 6th grade at the Anne Frank Gymnasium. She is enthusiastic about the yellow “Reader's Wish List”, on which you can specify what books you want, which will then be taken into account when shopping if possible.

Johann Maier from Itzling has also often used this service when the reading he or she wanted was not yet in stock. He has been coming to the parish library for 20 years. The 64-year-old likes to read historical, but is also enthusiastic about fantasy books. He borrows authors like Ken Follett, Iny Lorentz or Wolfgang Hohlbein every two to three weeks. With good reason: "If I had to buy all of the books, I would have run out of space for a long time, because I can't throw away any books."

The open day offers a glimpse into the parish library from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., plus there is a small book flea market in the parish hall.

The 3G rule applies.

Children from the age of four can be enchanted by the storyteller Simone Wanzek-Weber.

The parish library also collects old cell phones that are passed on for a good cause for recycling or reprocessing.
