S-Bahn station Poing barrier-free? So far more of an obstacle course

Although the barrier-free renovation of the Poing S-Bahn station has largely been completed, many commuters still have to overcome obstacles.

It stays that way for the time being.

Poing - Mr Franz from Poing-Süd takes the 462 or 461 bus to the Poing S-Bahn station on weekdays. Due to the renovation work, however, the bus turning loop on the south side is closed, which is why the bus has to drive to the north side. Means: He crosses two more traffic lights and takes about three to five minutes longer. These minutes were the time previously required to go from the bus to the platform. But now the S-Bahn usually leaves when the bus stops. The other way around: If Mr Franz gets off in Poing when he comes with the S2 from Munich in the evening, he has to quickly run with many others through the underpass to the north side, where all buses currently stop. And leave on time. Means: Mr. Franz missed the bus to Poing-Süd. In both cases, the additional waiting time is 20 minutes each.

Poing: delays due to relocation of bus stops

Like Mr. Franz, many people from Poingen and others who travel with the regional buses from the south to the Poingen S-Bahn station have been feeling the same for weeks.

The situation will not change for the time being: The message has now come from the Poingen town hall that the full closure of the bus stop on the south side of the train station will "probably last until the end of the year".

Because the bus turning loop will be re-asphalted as part of the barrier-free expansion of the station.

Because of this, the buses can still only stop and depart on the other side, at the stops on the market square.

Mayor puzzled about Deutsche Bahn

However, there is also bad news from the north side of the station: there is currently no barrier-free access to the platform in the direction of Munich.

Mayor Thomas Stark recently announced at the October municipal council meeting that it will probably stay that way until the end of the year.

Until the railway has completed the new ramp.

As a temporary solution, he proposed to open the provisional ramp behind the parking garage, reported Stark.

In order to facilitate the access for citizens with walking difficulties, but also with prams or for cyclists who take their bike with them on the S-Bahn, at least a little bit.

The mayor informed that the railway had denied that.

According to the group, this is not possible due to insufficient lighting.

Poing S-Bahn station: restrictions until the end of 2021

Thomas Stark cannot understand that, as he said in the local council meeting.

He himself was on the north side in the evening when it was dark and had the impression that there was certainly sufficient lighting.

His announcement, which was presented at the municipal council meeting, ends with the sentence: “Unfortunately, Deutsche Bahn will not be able to create temporary barrier-free access on the north side until the new ramp is opened, so restrictions will probably be inevitable until the work is completed at the beginning of December . "

Good news: access to the recycling island is free again

Mr. Franz can sing a song about "restrictions".

Because even if the S-Bahn from Markt Schwaben arrives in Poing on the north side and the way to his bus to the south is shorter, it can take time: It depends on how many guests get off.

Since everyone uses the same small staircase, traffic jams sometimes form and the way to the bus is delayed.

Once Mr. Franz has arrived at the bus stop, the bus is - once again - gone.

Postscript: There is good news.

The access to the recycling island on the south side of the train station, behind the kiosk building, is free again.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.
