After some back and forth about the headquarters of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Chancellery in the past election periods, the new Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) is relying on consistency.
"Regardless of what the corridor radio may have reported in the past few weeks: the State Chancellery will continue to have its seat in the State House in the future," assured the head of government in a video message to around 550 employees of the State Chancellery and the state representations in Berlin and Brussels.
Düsseldorf - Wüst's predecessor in office Armin Laschet (CDU) had moved from the exclusive glass office tower Stadttor back into the old state chancellery building, from which Johannes Rau (SPD) and other predecessors had recently conducted their official business.
Rau's successor, Wolfgang Clement (SPD), moved from Rau to the state chancellery in the city gate immediately after he took office.
There was a lot of criticism of the expensive move and the long-term lease - including the fact that "a prime minister not for rent" should be housed in an office tower with doctors, restaurants and companies.
In the city gate office of the former Prime Minister Hannelore Kraft (SPD) with a wide view over the Düsseldorf Media Harbor, Wüst has so far worked as Minister of Transport.

Many years after his retirement from politics, Clement once discovered that none of his successors liked the State Chancellery in the city gate, but only Laschet had the courage to move out again.
The move back to the old state house on the banks of the Rhine caused a lot of grumbling, especially among employees of the State Chancellery, as the historic house was in great need of renovation.
"We can get through the construction noise and the currently particularly cramped space situation together," said Wüst in his video message.
He himself has already moved into a temporary office there.
"Nevertheless, I am glad that - four years after you - I was also able to move from the city gate to the state house."
In the afternoon, the employees were invited to a staff meeting, together with Laschet and Wüst, in the garden of the Villa Horion.
