Within the celebration of the Ministry of Culture (Child's Culture Directorate) on the 19th Arab Child Day, today, more than eighty sons and daughters of the martyrs participated in the reading marathon, which was held by the Latakia Culture Directorate in cooperation with the Association of Martyrs' Sons and Daughters.

The celebration, which comes this year under the title (Sanabelna Tthirhar), chose to go through the life skills team for children of the sons and daughters of the martyrs at the association’s headquarters at the Martyr (Anwar Qassem) School, through the reading marathon event to encourage children to read, develop their abilities in literary fields, and attract them to the book, according to Rana Al-Saba’ Coach in the Life Skills Team.

Al-Saba indicated that the team has been working for more than seven years with the children of the association through cultural and artistic activities such as a reading marathon, quick storytelling workshops, professional workshops, in addition to drawing and origami workshops, and others, pointing out that the event also includes distributing a set of stories of children winning literary competitions of the Ministry of Culture to inform the participants On the products of their comrades, and as an incentive for them to develop their literary and artistic skills.

The founder and director of the Association of Martyrs’ Sons and Daughters in Lattakia, Dr. Mazen Zawan, explained that the event falls within the association’s program, which is concerned with caring for the sons and daughters of martyrs with integrated social and cultural care and educational, social and psychological support within a partnership with government and civil agencies, noting the importance of the effectiveness that directs children towards reading because of its importance In forming their personalities and enhancing their moral and intellectual values ​​in order to instill in them the ambition to be story writers in the future.

Rama Khurima, coordinator of cultural and recreational activities in the association, indicated that more than eighty children of the martyrs’ sons and daughters, aged 7 to 15 years, participate in the event as part of the ongoing work to enhance the child’s reading and comprehension abilities and at the same time encourage parents to urge their children to read, pointing to The great participation of the children of the Association in the literary competitions of the Ministry of Culture and the winning of many prizes.

The child, Manal, daughter of the martyr Muhammad Zuaiter, 12 years old, who loves to write poetry, expressed her happiness to participate in the marathon, which helps in the correct learning of reading and access to understanding the writer’s vision from work. Who saw the event as an opportunity to take care of children and their talents and introduce them.
