The police station in Gauting has a completely new management floor.

Ernst Wiedemann has retired, the new head of inspection is Andreas Ruch - a Gautinger.

In three years' time he will be in charge of a significantly larger inspection when the new building in the west of Gauting is completed.

Gauting

- He knows his way around his new place of work: First Police Chief Inspector Andreas Ruch (55), from now on head of the Police Inspection (PI) Gauting, has lived in the Würmtal community for more than 20 years and knows about problems such as young people on the Würm, which he does not consider to be a "problem clientele". He has already dealt with this phenomenon because he has been working in Gauting as interim manager since July. Because: Ernst Wiedemann has retired after more than 40 years of service - without any fuss, modestly, as Wiedemann's way. Police chief Günther Gietl had granted the request for a quiet farewell.

Andreas Ruch has far more tasks in the next few years than Wiedemann had: PI Gauting will gain in importance, said Gietl as soon as the new building on Ammerseestrasse is finished. Due to the deadline for tenders, the start of construction is expected in a year. As a precaution, Gietl does not want to announce a completion date at the moment. But it will probably be two years. Then the boundaries of the PI will be adjusted to those of the district: Stockdorf and Krailling, previously in the area of the Munich police headquarters, will be added, and the entire community of Gilching (currently PI Germering). Rumors that Ruch, who has been working in Germering so far, are bringing Gilching with him are false, joked Gietl - the plans are older. In addition to the current 31 officials, another twelve will be added, and the area will almost double. The fact that a community is divided between two police headquarters is unique in Bavaria, said the police chief - and not very effective.

Gietl sees with Ruch and the also new deputy, police chief inspector Andreas Rau, assured that the security situation in Gauting will continue to develop positively.

With around 670 crimes in 2020, there was a slight decrease, mainly in the case of theft and brutality.

Gietl and Ruch are concerned about the increase in cases of fraud, including through grandchildren's tricks, false police officers and the like.

Because of its older, but affluent population, Gauting was "the perfect playground", Ruch had already explained on Wednesday in the town hall.

There have been cases of fraud with nonexistent vacation rentals, calls from fake police officers, and more.

However, since the victims are ashamed, only "a fraction" ends up on the police table.

Farewell to retirement: Ernst Wiedemann (2nd from right) wanted to leave without a big ceremony, which was respected.

Appropriately after 40 years, it was brought home in an "Isar 12" vintage car.

Andreas Ruch has been a police officer for 32 years, was already with the Kripo, was one of the press spokesman for the police headquarters in Munich, vice at PI Starnberg and most recently vice at PI Germering. "I'm looking forward to the new task," he said - and in the weeks since July he has already noticed that the Gautingen officials are highly motivated and always on hand, something he has never seen in other departments. He has already determined the priorities of the police work: He wants to combat drug consumption more intensely - it cannot be that people are consumed openly on a park bench. In this context, Ruch made it clear how little he thinks of legalizing cannabis. "For us, the release of hash does not bring any benefit," but it is to be feared thatthat another free drug (besides alcohol) will affect behavior, especially among young people.

The second focus is cycling - especially the dangers that cyclists pose. That is why PI has procured two e-mountain bikes with which officials will patrol, “so that people obey the traffic rules more”. Mayor Dr. Brigitte Kössinger welcomes this because the town hall has received many complaints about it. The community does a lot for cycling, but many, including adults, lead on sidewalks, especially on Bahnhofstrasse. There have been accidents, some no longer dared to go out of business on the sidewalk. Kössinger was satisfied that the PI stayed on site and that the help of the community in finding the property was successful.

New to the team is Andreas Rau (38), who has been Vice President of PI Landsberg and has been a police officer for 20 years.

The previous Vice President of PI Gauting has moved to another post.

Everyone has to come to terms with the fact that both bosses are called Andreas and the last name begins with R.
