The car and truck manufacturer Daimler coped well with the slump in sales in the third quarter. The chip crisis left its mark on sales, but the profit attributable to the shareholders was still generous at 2.47 billion euros. This corresponds to an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period last year, as the company announced on Friday. At 40.1 billion euros, sales were slightly below the previous year's figure.
Stuttgart - "We are staying on course to achieve our goals for the year as a whole," said CFO Harald Wilhelm.
The operating profit “increased despite a challenging environment”.
Like most car manufacturers, Daimler suffers from the current global shortage of chips and has recently had to cut back on production again and again.
In the third quarter, for example, the Group's car brand, Mercedes-Benz, sold a good 30 percent fewer cars; including commercial vehicles, the decline was around a quarter.
