Saudi Arabia today (Friday) ordered the Lebanese ambassador to the kingdom to leave within 48 hours and banned all imports from Lebanon.
Also, according to a report by the State News Agency, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Lebanon was summoned for consultations.
Saudi Arabia's moves come in response to critical remarks made by a Lebanese minister about its military intervention in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia's move is expected to deepen the Lebanese government's crisis, which is already in political paralysis due to controversy surrounding the Beirut port disaster investigation.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati declared tonight that his country is committed to good relations with Saudi Arabia, and tonight called on its Arab partners to put the crisis behind them.

"We also appeal to our fellow Arab leaders to work and help overcome this crisis in order to preserve Arab cohesion," Mikatai said in a statement.
The controversy arose following an interview aired in Al-Jazeera in August with one of Lebanon's ministers, George Kurdhi, who called the war in Yemen "useless" and said Iranian-backed Houthis were defending themselves against Saudi Arabia's aggression.
Cordhi may be required to resign to prevent further deterioration.
