As the 2022 election deadline approaches, the issue of downsizing the civil service is featured in the speeches of some of the opposition candidates, who denounce the broken promises by the government in matter. Candidate, Emmanuel Macron had made a commitment to reduce the staff of civil servants by 120,000. However, they increased during his five-year term, according to the annual report of the public service, published recently. Would wanting to degrease the administrative mammoth part of an impossible mission?
