The long-time deputy head of the police station, Andreas Ruch, left Germering six months ago for Gauting.

Now he has officially been introduced there as the new head of inspection.

Germering / Gauting - The 55-year-old Ruch knows his new place of work. He has lived in the Würmtal community for more than 20 years and knows about problems like young people on the Würm, which he does not consider to be a “problem clientele”. He has already dealt with this phenomenon because he has been working in Gauting as interim manager since July. His predecessor, Ernst Wiedemann, retired after more than 40 years of service - without a fuss. Police chief Günther Gietl had granted the request for a quiet farewell.

Andreas Ruch will have far more tasks in the next few years than Wiedemann had: PI Gauting will gain in importance as soon as the new building on Ammerseestrasse is completed, said Gietl at the inauguration of Ruch. Construction is expected to start in a year. As a precaution, the police chief does not want to give a completion date. But it will probably be two years. Then the boundaries of the PI will be adapted to those of the district: Stockdorf and Krailling, previously in the area of the Munich police headquarters, will be added, and the entire community of Gilching (currently PI Germering). Rumors that Ruch, who has been working in Germering so far, are bringing Gilching with him are false, joked Gietl - the plans are older. In addition to the current 31 officials, another twelve are added, the area almost doubles. The fact that a community is divided between two police headquarters is unique in Bavaria, said the police chief - and not very effective.

Andreas Ruch has been a police officer for 32 years, was already with the criminal investigation department, was one of the press spokespersons for the Munich police headquarters, vice at PI Starnberg and, most recently, deputy head of PI Germering.

"I'm looking forward to the new task," he said - and in the weeks since July he has already noticed that the Gautingen officials are highly motivated and always on hand.
