Penzberg - From the emergency pot from Hörmann Automotive Penzberg (HAP): 33,000 euros go to the Don Bosco youth center, 33,000 euros to the Pfaffenwinkel hospice association.

Penzberg - From the emergency pot from Hörmann Automotive Penzberg (HAP): 33,000 euros go to the Don Bosco youth center, 33,000 euros to the Pfaffenwinkel hospice association.

In the mid-1960s, the MAN company began manufacturing buses in Penzberg.

In 1976 the plant had more than 1000 employees.

At the beginning of the 1980s, vehicle components were produced, not buses.

In 2005 the Penzberg plant was spun off, from 2008 the Hörmann Group completely managed the fortunes.

The HAP plant closed in 2020 and production was outsourced to Slovakia.

More than 700 employees suddenly found themselves faced with a difficult task: looking for work during the Corona period.

According to the former HAP works council Bayram Yerli, this is no easy undertaking: “About 50 percent of the employees do not yet have a job.” This is also due to the fact that the HAP employees have been given very specific training.

“Specialized workers have a hard time finding a job,” adds Helmut Dinter, the 1st authorized representative of IG Metall Weilheim.

The average length of service at HAP of 16 years and the average age of the workforce of 45 years should not necessarily have helped in the labor market.

Geiger does not come to Penzberg

This year there was even more bad news for the ex-employees and the city in May: The automotive supplier Geiger Automotive canceled its move to Penzberg - the company wanted to merge its production facilities in Murnau and Ziemetshausen on Seeshaupter Straße.

But they could not agree with the landlord about the additional need for renovation on the area, it was said at the time.

The argument almost escalated

Hörmann Automotive Penzberg (HAP) closed its doors in summer 2020.

The works council and IG Metall fought for 66,000 euros from the emergency fund of the company's social plan until June 2021.

"It was not a nice conversation," emphasizes the former HAP works council chairman Thomas Nachtmann (since Monday the body has officially ceased to be in office).

We are talking about negotiations with Hörmann regarding 66,000 euros, which were left over in an emergency pot as part of the company closure and the 20 million euros social plan.

"Too much would have been lost in the operational distribution of the sum," said Nachtmann, referring to the tax deductions and accounting expenses that would then be due.

Since no emergency occurred during the severance payments and the more than 700 employees were already paid off in October 2020, the emergency pot should be used elsewhere.

66,000 euros for charity

The group wanted to withhold the sum, but the works council around Nachtmann, Bayram Yerli and IG Metall Weilheim around the 1st authorized representative Helmut Dinter still had a say. "Only shortly before the court escalation stage did HAP agree," said Dinter. The deadline for the emergency pot was June 2021. Until then, Hörmann, the works council and IG Metall had to agree on a purpose.

"We are glad that it still worked after a difficult birth," says Nachtmann happily.

The sum of 66,000 euros has now been donated to charity: "The works council had passed the resolution that the hospice association and the Don Bosco youth center should be financially supported," reports Yerli.

Both social institutions each received 33,000 euros from the HAP emergency fund.

Gasping at the donation amount

“At first I got a gasp at the sum,” laughed the facility manager of the Penzberg youth center Don Bosco.

Carolin Kirchner had expected 2000 euros for "a larger donation" - but certainly not 33,000 euros.

The money is to be used for renovation work: “The residential groups urgently need to be modernized.

It has to be brighter, more child-friendly and the carpets also have to be replaced. "

At first I got a gasp at the sum.

Youth center: projects and information

The Penzberg youth center Don Bosco is a curative educational institution of inpatient child and youth welfare, which moved to Steigenberg in 1969. There are four children's and two youth groups with seven to nine places - including an outdoor group. The social pedagogue Carolin Kirchner has been running the facility since April 2020. The youth center is run by the non-profit association Kinder- und Jugendhilfe Penzberg. 45 men and women from the Penzberg area are members of the sponsoring association.

Corona hit the youth center hard.

The sponsoring association is looking for new members and urgently needs donations.

In the future, work on the swimming pool and extensive renovation work are still on the project plan.

Above all, the residential groups need to be modernized and made more child-friendly.

If you want to donate, you can do so on the youth center's website at www.jhdb.net/de (Sparkasse Oberland, IBAN: DE31 70351030 0000 3035 86 or Hypo Vereinsbank, IBAN: DE 86 70025175 4260 1123 20).

50 percent of the 66,000 euros from the HAP emergency fund go to the youth center, the other half goes to the Pfaffenwinkel hospice association.

Steffen Röger, managing director of the hospice association, was also delighted with the donation: “Such a sum is not an everyday occurrence.

100 percent of the money goes to the people we look after. "
