Monterrey was a true steamroller at the start of the game.

Speed, intensity and accuracy in their passes left the Eagles without ideas and depending on their goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, to prevent a win by saving them on several occasions in the game.

The Eagles reacted in the second half with a shot from Colombian striker Roger Martínez and then with a free kick from Richard Sánchez, but they failed to turn the game around at the Iron Giant.

CF Monterrey has the 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2019/20 and 2021 Concacaf Champions League on its record.

Monterrey will represent Concacaf at the FIFA Club World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
