Family members of Avi Edri, whose body was found in the Jerusalem Forest in 1990, have remained silent for 31 years.

Edri, 41, the middle of eight siblings, left behind a widow and four children.

Even for the past two weeks, after suspects in the affair were arrested, they refused to be interviewed.

"His children have grandchildren who do not know about this case, so the attitude was 'Leave the affair, do not be interviewed and do not give any statement to anyone', let the police do the work," says Walla!

A relative of Edri's, and explains that this is why he is not being interviewed on his behalf.

He now hopes that "the circle is closed."

The Magistrate's Court on Thursday extended the suspects' detention by seven days, ruling that "the suspicion has intensified."

One of the suspects even signed a "state witness" agreement, which should significantly advance the investigation.

"On the one hand we are glad they were caught, on the other hand it took them too long," the relative slaps.

Edri worked at the "Yiam Yitzchak" yeshiva in the Shimon Hatzadik neighborhood of Jerusalem. The day he was murdered, he left the yeshiva, and in the evening his wife reported his absence to the police. The next day his body was found in the Ramot forest, with severe signs of violence on it. After the murder, it was reported in the media that Edri received a phone call, following which he went out into the woods, and that the murder was related to the chastity guards. Police arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of involvement in the murder, but they were released - and the killer was released.

Two years ago, director Shani Haziza released her film "The Hidden Rabbi," which linked the murder of Edri and Nissim Sheetrit, an ultra-Orthodox young man who disappeared in 1986, to the modesty shifts under the direction of Rabbi Eliezer Berland. Following the film, the investigation was reopened.

Edri's relative finds it difficult to hide his frustration that the wheels of justice are grinding slowly: "They knew from the first day he was murdered, they knew who the accomplices to the murder were, on the day of the murder - the woman (arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder) was arrested.

She told them she knew who had committed the murder, but she was scared. "

"After thirty days they were detained, the police said they should be released," the relative adds, "I told them 'you know she's an accomplice and you know who killed her, so why are you releasing her?' helped".

"It was a difficult time, but the police told us not to intervene and leave it. Here after 31 years, when she was already a grandmother with grandchildren, she betrayed the killer and his friends. We hope the circle closes."
