(CNN) -

The mother of the three brothers who were found abandoned in a house along with her brother's body told CNN affiliate KHOU that she checked her children "every two weeks."

Gloria Y. Williams, 35, told KHOU in an exclusive interview from jail that she did not know her 8-year-old son was dead.

Authorities discovered the children, ages 7, 9 and 15, and the body of the fourth child in a Houston apartment last Sunday.

The boy's cause of death was called "homicidal violence with multiple blunt force injuries," according to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

He is believed to have died around Thanksgiving, Sgt. Dennis Wolford, a senior investigator for the sheriff's homicide unit, said at a news conference.

When asked what happened, KHOU reported that Williams said, "I'm sorry. I didn't."

Williams attempted to "alter, destroy and conceal ... a human corpse," according to a criminal complaint.

She was charged with injuring a child by omission and tampering with evidence related to a human corpse, Gonzalez said.

She was charged with harming a child by omission, harming a child that caused serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence relating to a human corpse, according to court documents.

The bond for these charges is $ 900,000.

It is unclear whether Williams obtained legal representation.

Her boyfriend, Brian W. Coulter, was charged with murder in the death of the 8-year-old boy.

Coulter, 31, committed a "felony wounding a child by intentionally, knowingly and recklessly causing bodily injury" by striking the child with his hand and kicking him with his foot, thereby causing death, according to documents from indictment filed by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Bail for Coulter has been set at $ 1 million.

Conditions include no contact with Williams or anyone under the age of 17.

CNN has not been able to determine whether it has secured an attorney.
