Foreign Ministry: The policies of the president of the Turkish regime constitute a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world

Syria condemned in the strongest terms the decision issued two days ago by the Turkish parliament to renew the so-called “authorization granted” to the head of the Turkish regime to send military forces to Iraq and Syria for a period of two years.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the policies of the President of the Turkish regime have become a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world, as he continues to launch military attacks on Syrian territory and violate Security Council resolutions related to the situation in Syria.

The source pointed out that the inaction of the Security Council in the face of the continuing Turkish occupation of lands in the Syrian Arab Republic makes the head of the Turkish regime persist in his crimes and aggressions against Syria and continues to occupy Syrian lands and impose fait accompli policies, demographic change, Turkification, and perpetuate the reality of the occupation in those areas.

The source added that Syria reserves its absolute right, based on the Charter and international law, to defend its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and to take all practical and legal measures guaranteed by international legitimacy, in order to repel the Turkish aggression and liberate all Syrian territory.

The source noted that Syria calls on the international community to hold this regime accountable for the war crimes and aggression it has committed against it, and to compensate the Syrian state for all the losses these practices have caused against Syrian civilians, Syrian infrastructure, public and private property, natural resources and the historical heritage of the Syrian Arab Republic.
