Hapoel Haifa submitted an urgent petition to the presidency of the Supreme Court of the Basketball Association, to cancel the decision of the Exceptions Committee, which ruled that Spencer Weiss would not be considered an Israeli player.
The club's leaders hired the services of lawyer Roi Rosen, who was the one who filed the petition on behalf of the citizens who were not recognized as Israeli players, and the teams had to pay a fine for them.
The petition states that Spencer Weiss, who has Israeli citizenship since 2015 and has twice played for Israel's senior team (and 7 more appearances in the reserve), meets the criteria set by the Supreme Court presidency, and as such, was not scheduled to face an exceptions committee this season. Confirmed it.
Rosen further stated in the petition that Hapoel Haifa relied on the clear provisions of the ruling and therefore signed Spencer Weiss because it understood that it would not be required to pay a fine for it.
