Potsdam - A regional train collided with a transporter at an open level crossing in Grieben (Brandenburg).

The Daimler Vito was dragged along about 100 meters from the train, said the Brandenburg police.

The two occupants of the van died in the terrible accident.

"As a result of the collision, the two occupants of the car died from their injuries," said the police.

The identity of the dead was not yet fully established, it is said.

The accident happened around 12 noon on Saturday (October 30th) on the private line of the Niederbarnimer Railway Company, according to the police.

The cause of the accident is initially unclear.

The driver of the train and four passengers were reportedly uninjured.

They were looked after by rescue workers and emergency chaplains at the scene of the accident.
