A serious accident at a level crossing in Brandenburg (Oberhavel district) occurred on Saturday.
Two people were killed in the accident.
Potsdam - A regional train collided with a transporter at an open level crossing in Grieben (Brandenburg).
The Daimler Vito was dragged along about 100 meters from the train, said the Brandenburg police.
The two occupants of the van died in the terrible accident.
"As a result of the collision, the two occupants of the car died from their injuries," said the police.
The identity of the dead was not yet fully established, it is said.
Fatal train accident in Brandenburg
The accident happened around 12 noon on Saturday (October 30th) on the private line of the Niederbarnimer Railway Company, according to the police.
The cause of the accident is initially unclear.
The scene of the accident was therefore the open level crossing Grieben / K6512 (Oberhavel district).
The driver of the train and four passengers were reportedly uninjured.
They were looked after by rescue workers and emergency chaplains at the scene of the accident.
The public prosecutor also ordered the use of an expert.
The officials put the property damage at around 100,000 euros.
Last year in April, another serious collision occurred not far from the accident site on the same route (RB54), as reported by the dpa news agency.

In Klosterheide, a regional train (Ostprignitz-Ruppin) collided with a van.
A 39-year-old driver was injured so badly that he succumbed to his injuries a few days later in hospital.
In 2019 there was also a collision with a car and a train at the level crossing near Grieben.
