The US National Records Administration has accused former President Donald Trump of trying to prevent documents related to him from being handed over to investigators in the case of the storming of the Capitol Building in a lawsuit filed against him.
The Associated Press reported that the administration clarified in a press statement, “This lawsuit, which was filed by the National Archives and Records Administration this morning, comes in response to another lawsuit filed by Trump earlier this month in order to prevent the Archives from handing over thousands of documents to the House Committee investigating the storming of the Capitol. by crowds of supporters of the former president on the sixth of last January.”
The director of the unit concerned with relations with the White House within the National Archives and Records Administration, “Billy Luster,” indicated that these documents include about 30 pages of daily notes, schedules and data about the President’s meetings in the White House during that period, records of the activities of the President and Vice President Mike Pence, their phone calls, and draft letters and letters Relating to the events of January 6, in addition to three written memos issued by then Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building last January, at his instigation, when he asked them during a demonstration to head towards the Capitol Building not to surrender and to refuse to recognize the results of the last presidential election, which resulted in the killing of four people and the arrest of 52 others.
