The companies of the General Organization for Textile Industries have produced, from the beginning of this year until the end of last September, of yarns, fabrics, ready-made clothes, cotton, medical gauze and carpets worth 108.668 billion Syrian pounds.
According to the production and marketing report of the Corporation for the first three quarters of this year, of which SANA obtained a copy, the rate of implementation of the production plan during the mentioned period amounted to 87 percent, with an increase rate of 255 percent over the same period last year. The production values of the yarn companies were distributed by about 72,712 Billion liras, textile companies 22.773 billion liras, and other companies worth 13.183 billion liras.
As for sales, the report indicated that they amounted to 91.541 billion pounds in the same period, an increase of 194 percent over the sales of the same period last year, which amounted to 47.088 billion pounds.
The yarn companies recorded a sales value of 63.142 billion pounds, an increase of 181 percent over the same period last year, and textile companies 17.028 billion pounds, an increase of 295, while other companies of carpets, ready-made clothes, interiors and others recorded 11.371 billion pounds, an increase of 176 percent.
The Director General of the Corporation, Engineer Harith Makhlouf, confirmed in a statement to SANA that despite the old machinery, the lack of raw materials and the decline in the number of workers, especially the technical ones, the Corporation is working to facilitate the work of companies, especially yarn, to secure their needs of raw materials, especially cotton, through coordination with the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing To secure the necessary fabrics for clothing manufacturers.
