"In Dorfen, cyclists no longer have to stand on the hose," said Mayor Heinz Grundner (CSU) when the service station was officially put into operation on Thursday.

Part of the station is an automatic tube machine that is equipped with bicycle tubes of various sizes as well as valves and repair utensils. In addition, there is an air and repair column on the floor, which is equipped with tools and an air pump with pressure gauge. The station is covered and illuminated.
“The city has created the prerequisites for helping if the air runs out - not just for the driver, but also for the bike,” joked Grundner. The choice of location fell on the Dorfen train station, as this is a centrally accessible point in Dorfen. It is frequented by commuters and at the same time is easily accessible for cyclists on the Vilstal cycle path. "The service station is another instrument that can make cycling in Dorfen more attractive," said Grundner. "This means that cyclists always have a point of contact to keep their bike roadworthy."
The bicycle service station was set up by the building yard at the initiative of the Environment Agency and with the support of Huber Bike Service.
The city chief made it clear that bicycle traffic in Dorfen should be expanded and made easier bit by bit.
It is well known that Dorfen joined the Association of Bicycle-Friendly Municipalities (AGFK) some time ago.
The initiative for this came from the Greens in Dorfen.
They advertise that the city is optimizing its bicycle infrastructure step by step.
In this way, the city can contribute a great deal to the fact that the bicycle is no longer seen only as a piece of sports equipment for leisure time, but can instead establish itself as a means of transport to be taken seriously.
